Exercise Physiology
Personalised exercise programs to help you move better, recover faster, and live well.
What is Exercise Physiology?
Exercise Physiology is a form of allied health care that uses targeted, evidence-based exercise as a treatment for injury, chronic illness, and disability. Delivered by Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs), it goes beyond general fitness — combining an in-depth assessment of your condition, movement, and health history with a tailored program designed to improve strength, mobility, cardiovascular health, and overall quality of life. Exercise Physiology is commonly used to manage conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, chronic pain, and neurological conditions, as well as to support safe recovery after surgery or injury.
What can Exercise Physiologists help with?
We can help with the assessment, diagnosis, and management of:
Chronic disease management (diabetes, cardiovascular disease, respiratory conditions)
Musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation and post-surgical recovery
Chronic pain management
Arthritis and joint conditions
Neurological conditions (e.g. Parkinson's disease, stroke recovery, MS)
Mental health support through structured exercise
Falls prevention and balance training for older adults
Weight management and metabolic health
Cancer-related fatigue and rehabilitation
Improving general strength, mobility, and functional capacity
What to expect at your first appointment
Your initial Exercise Physiology consultation is focused on getting to know you, your health history, and your goals, so we can design a program that's safe and effective for your needs.
Health and medical history review — We'll discuss your current condition, past injuries, surgeries, medications, and any relevant medical reports or referrals (e.g. from your GP or specialist).
Movement and functional assessment — Your Exercise Physiologist will assess your strength, mobility, posture, and movement patterns to identify any limitations or areas of concern.
Goal setting — Together, we'll establish clear, realistic short- and long-term goals based on what matters most to you, whether that's returning to sport, managing a chronic condition, or improving everyday function.
Program discussion — We'll explain our recommended approach and how a tailored exercise program can support your goals.
Questions and next steps — You'll have the chance to ask questions, and we'll outline what future sessions will look like, including frequency and any equipment or space requirements.
